Member Profile: Jason Frerking, F&S Master Air

F&S Master AirJason Frerking has worked for F&S Master Air for 13 years, or half the time the company has been around, as it was started by his father in 1986.  Jason is the company’s Vice President, and I’m sure he’s extremely happy to have gone into the family business, instead of staying with the only other job he’s ever had — turkey farming!   F&S has grown over the years and merged with two other HVAC businesses, and today is one of only two Rheem Team Top Contractors in the entire region.

F&S installs Rheem equipment almost exclusively, Jason says, because it is tested and it works.  They can, however, install almost any brand of heating or air conditioning equipment, as desired by the customer, and can service or repair any and every brand, as well.  All of Jason’s employees hold EPA cards, and all have completed OSHA-10 training.  F&S prides itself on courteous service, and offers 24 hour emergency service 7 days a week, even on holidays.

A few items Jason discussed that may have an impact on home/business owners:

– AC systems that still use R-22 coolant are quickly becoming prohibitively expensive to repair; as the coolant has been phased out of service by the government, the cost has risen dramatically.  It may be necessary cost-wise to completely replace a system, rather than repair it.

Jason Frerking, F&S Master Air– Geothermal heat is becoming more prevalent, and as the demand rises, the cost for installing a system will go down.  How expensive a system might be also depends on the depth of the well needed, which varies from location to location.

– Indoor air quality is increasingly becoming a top-of-mind issue.  The populace seems to have become more allergen-sensitive, and home/business owners are installing UV air purifiers, humidifiers, de-humidifiers, and so on, in an attempt to better control air quality.

To that end, Jason mentioned that he would love to have a duct-cleaning company join Business Power Network, as well as an electrician and the ever-popular photographer.  For the electrical components of the HVAC business, such as thermostats, F&S uses Honeywell whenever possible.  Jason was excited about a new feature coming from Honeywell in the near future: a smartphone app that will allow users to control their thermostats remotely from their phones!

It’s a pleasure to have someone  in BPN that’s as knowledgeable about HVAC as Jason is. If you have questions, concerns or problems with your heating or air conditioning systems, whether residential or commercial, you can’t go wrong by calling F&S Master Air at (417) 862-7170.
