Friday night, September 7th, Revel Advertising is helping sponsor a special First Friday Art Walk from 6:00 to 10:00pm. “Painting Hope with Gavyn Sky” will be held at Obelisk Home/Revel Advertising, 214 W. Phelps in Springfield. This event will feature collaborative paintings done by children from St. Jude’s along with Gavyn and The Art Renegades. There will be art, beer, wine, hors d’ouvres, and treats for the kids, and 100% of all proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Mercy Hospital’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.

Paradise at Parlor 88Saturday, September 8th, is the 5th annual “Paradise at Parlor 88 South”, the end-of-season event benefitting H.O.P.E. Sertoma (Helping Overcome Pediatric Emergencies). This island-themed event begins at 3:00pm (rain or shine) and runs all day, with several different bands performing, hula hoop contests, games, tropical drinks, a silent auction, and more. Advance tickets can be purchased from Nikki Diederich or Abby O’Sullivan (depending on how far north or south on National you’d like to go) and are $8.00 ($10.00 at the door).

Linda’s Flowers has a “pay it forward” program going on right now, where 10% of each order placed will be donated to your charity of choice.  Each month, a particular charity will be highlighted, but any charity can be donated to at any time.  If you have questions about this program, or would like to place an order to start “paying it forward”, call Josh Jones at (417) 883-6861.SBJ SWMo Giving Guide

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s coming up soon, so now is the time to pre-order your free wiper blades from G.L. Moore Tire Pros & Automotive. As always in this annual event, the blades are free, with free installation, and come in your choice of pink, or black with a pink stripe, to highlight breast cancer awareness. A donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks is requested. For more information, or to pre-order your blades, contact Whitney Moore at (417) 869-2561.

Finally, do you have one of these?  If not, you should get yourself a copy, and do it soon!  The Southwest Missouri Giving Guide, published by the Springfield Business Journal, is a comprehensive look at local not-for-profit organizations, highlighting missions, fundraising goals, giving opportunities, and leadership, as well as “how-to” articles from local professionals.  For more information, or to obtain a copy of the guide, call Mary Warner at (417) 831-3238.
